24/25 Season

The Oslo Philharmonic held its first Christmas concerts in 1969, and since then they have become a cherished tradition for many in the run-up to Christmas.

It will be a Viennese New Year’s concert with a Hungarian twist when Gergely Madaras conducts the Oslo Philharmonic in “New Year on the Danube.” He brings along to of Hungary’s most skilled musicians: Lajos Sárközy Jr. on the violin and Jenő Lisztes på cimbalom.

Klaus Mäkelä conducts Dmitri Shostakovich’ first and last symphony, written 45 years apart. Symphony No. 1 was Shostakovich's international breakthrough. Symphony No. 15 is an ambiguous look back at the history of music and his own music.
