The role of the symphony orchestra in our time is a musical parallel to the largest art museums we find in all capital cities in our part of the world. We manage the historical music from our cultural circle, and the shared memory and experience that this music carries.
Like a national museum, we also have, figuratively speaking, a space for our national cultural heritage, and not least an exciting space for our own contemporary times. In light of this, here are four concerts I'm looking forward to.
Hear our new, wonderful concertmaster Sarah Christian shine in Vivaldi's four seasons! I am so proud that someone of her caliber will be working with us.
- Antonio Vivaldi The Four Seasons

I am also looking forward to the concerts in week 3, when Klaus Mäkelä is conducting Shostakovich's symphonies nos 1 and 15. There concerts are also recorded on Decca, so if you like them you can relive them when the release is ready.
- Dmitri Shostakovich Symphony No. 1
- Dmitri Shostakovich Symphony No. 15
- Klaus Mäkelä - Conductor
I can't wait to get to know Hjalmar Borgstrøm's Violin Concerto from 1914. With Eldbjørg Hemsing as soloist, it is in safe hands.

- Dmitry Matvienko - Conductor
