Oslo Philharmonic Chamber Series: Romanticism Across Two Centuries
While on his honeymoon, Felix Mendelssohn composed his String Quartet No. 3 in D major, Op. 44, in the same lively spirit as his Italian Symphony, while awaiting the birth of his daughter. In the season's first chamber concert, it is performed alongside Huw Watkins' String Trio No. 2 from 2024, a work in which Romanticism lives on without becoming dated.
