Oslo Philharmonic Choir
Every Monday evening, more than 120 voices gather for choir rehearsal under the direction of two of the world's foremost symphonic choral conductors, keeping alive a tradition that spans more than 100 years.
Since its founding in 1921, the Oslo Philharmonic Choir has established itself as one of the leading symphonic choirs in the Nordic region. With more than 120 dedicated singers, the choir performs regularly with the Oslo Philharmonic under the direction of some of the world's most renowned conductors. The choir has performed most of the major symphonic choral works in the repertoire, earning praise from critics, audiences and conductors alike.
Since January 2025, Simon Halsey has served as Artistic Director of Choral Activities at the Oslo Philharmonic. Halsey holds a unique position in classical music as an advisor to the world's leading conductors, orchestras and choirs, and as an ambassador for choral singing among amateurs of all ages and backgrounds.
The choir is also regularly led by Chorus Master Håkon Matti Skrede, who together with Halsey drives the choir's artistic development. The choir rehearses every Monday at the Oslo Concert Hall and begins each semester with a weekend seminar. The choir continually welcomes new singers and would gladly bring your voice into the ensemble. For information or to sign up for an audition, contact syng@ofkor.no.
