German Matthias Pintscher conducts Camille Saint-Saëns “Egyptian” piano concerto, Claude Debussy’s tribute to Spain and England, and his own orchestral piece neharot, which he wrote at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Tomas Netopil conducts music by three Czech composers, who in each own way was inspired by the music of the home country: Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů and Antonín Dvořák. The Oslo Philharmonic's own João Miguel Silva is the soloist in Martinůs Oboe Concerto.

34-årige Camille Pépin, som befinner seg i krysningen mellom impresjonisme og amerikansk minimalisme, løftes frem som en av Frankrikes — om ikke Europas — mest spennende og aktuelle komponister akkurat nå. I verket Chamber Music, en sekstett skrevet for strykere, horn, klarinett, piano og mezzosopran, tas vi med på en symfonisk reise inn i diktene til irske James Joyce. En suggererende musikalsk verden som er like vakker og dypt rørende som den er fascinerende.
