Rhythms and Reflections

Dive into a world of contemporary chamber music where vibrant rhythms, innovative textures, and expressive melodies converge in an electrifying journey of sound.

In this chamber concert, musicians from the Oslo Philharmonic present a captivating program featuring a dynamic selection of compositions by renowned contemporary composers. From the pulsating energy of Jennifer Higdon's (b. 1962) Dash to the urban groove of Guillaume Connesson's (b. 1970) Techno Parade audiences will be swept away by the exhilarating fusion of classical tradition and modern sensibility.

In celebration of Luciano Berio's (1920-2003) anniversary in 2025, his whimsical Opus Number Zoo invites listeners into a playful menagerie of musical characters, while Marc Mellits' (b. 1966) Apollo transports them to a realm of rhythmic complexity and virtuosity. Helmut Eder's (1916-2005) Perpetuum adds a touch of Americana or perpetual motion, respectively, to the eclectic mix, offering moments of reflection amidst the kinetic energy.

This concert showcases the versatility and dynamism of wind quintets and piano in the 21st century, inviting audiences to embark on a sonic adventure filled with surprises and delights. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado or a newcomer to contemporary chamber music, this concert promises an unforgettable musical experience that will leave you inspired and uplifted.
