Should we receive many applications for the position then we may invite candidates who do not have a permanent orchestral position to participate in a qualifying first round or send a video. We are expecting many applicants and due to this, candidates not currently holding a permanent position in a professional symphony orchestra will be asked to qualify.
All candidates not invited directly to the first round of the main audition on May 6th can choose to send a sound recording before April 10th or play a live qualification round on May 6th.
Audition requirements for video recording and qualification round are the following excerpts from the published collection:
- Strauss: Don Juan (both excerpts)
- Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Scherzo
- Berlioz: Roman Carnival ouverture
Regarding recorded qualification: The excerpts are to be performed in this order in one continuous, unedited recording. The jury will listen to the recordings 1-2 days after the deadline and results will be sent out by email immediately after this. Applicants choosing to qualify by recorded audition can not participate in the live qualification round. Detailed information on how to upload the recording will be included with the invitation.
