Kjell Adel Lundstrøm

According to horn player Kjell Adel Lundstrøm, it was somewhat by chance that he became a musician:

− I actually had a plan to study economics, but after a year as a conscript in the Norwegian Armed Forces Band in Sørlandet I thought I would try to become a musician. This was in the middle of the previous financial crisis at the end of the 1980s. In that sense I suppose I represent a kind of backlash to the yuppie era.

Since then, two individuals have had an extra big influence on him:

− I must mention my teacher at Norges Musikkhøgskole, professor Frøydis Ree Wekre. It was also inspiring to play with Claudio Abbado as a conductor - I was lucky enough to experience him in the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Orchestra Mozart and in the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

− We are always trying to make others happy

Kjell Adel was engaged by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in 1997. His motivation stems from creating positive experiences for the audience:

− We are always trying to make others happy. Exciting and high-profile concerts at home and abroad are great sources of inspiration.

His greatest experience with the orchestra was in 1997, when the Oslo Philharmonic had a residence in Vienna´s Musikverein, where they performed five different programmes with Mariss Jansons conducting.

He has the following advice for a good concert experience:

− My best advice would be to just enjoy the music! Also. there are many who have a better experience when they know a little about the music in advance and are familiar with it.

Gustav Mahler is Kjell Adel´s favourite composer. And when he is not playing or listening to music, he enjoys diving.
