The Oslo Philharmonic plays at its former main venue.

This concert offers the opportunity to listen to the Oslo Philharmonic among Munch’s paintings in what used to be the orchestra’s main venue through decades, the University Aula.

Mozart mastered most forms of music at hand, and the concert aria was no exception. These arias were shorter, free-standing works, often composed for one specific singer. German soprano Mojca Erdmann has specialized in Mozart’s vocal music and sings a selection of his concert arias.

Franz Schubert attended the premiere of Beethoven’s ninth symphony in 1824. The following year, Schubert wrote the symphony regarded as his ninth, confidently inserting a quote from Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”. Otherwise, the symphony holds its ground as a solid construction by a colorful and peculiar artistic personality.
