Friends of the orchestra

​Friends of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in January of 1952. The purpose of the organisation is to give financial support to the orchestra and create an understanding of the cultural importance of the orchestra.

Since the start in 1952 the organisation has supported concert projects, expansion of the orchestra, international tours, recordings, purchases of new instruments, chamber music concerts, scholarships for musicians, acoustic improvements of the Concert House of Oslo, branding of the orchestra and a live transmission of a concert to cinemas all over Norway.

Friends of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra has a sales desk in the lobby selling recordings of the orchestra and signings of CDs and DVDs by famous soloists.
